Combustion: At the Heart of Our Fireworks and Alternative Fuels!

A series of combustion events were the center attraction for this weekend's July 4th festivities in the United States. Combustion simulations help shed light on fuel flexibility; this animation illustrates how hydrogen burns in a low-swirl burner. Information from these kinds of simulations provide experimentalists with insights into how hydrogen burns that cannot be readily measure in the laboratory.
