Designing the exascale computer systems required to process data from such instruments presents challenges due to huge amounts of data, high data rates, relatively low computational intensity and a limited power budget. Such computer systems can be considered data throughput machines applicable to a range of large scale big data processing tasks. The SKA Science Data Processor consortium invites the community to explore opportunities for collaboration, and offers an update of its current design status.
