ABSTRACT:
This annual workshop is organized by the Energy Efficient HPC Working Group (http://eehpcwg.lbl.gov/). It blends facilities and system perspectives; from architecture through design and implementation. The workshop topics reflect the activities and interests of the EEHPCWG, which is an open group for accelerating the adoption of energy efficient HPC. Workshop topics include: “Considering Energy Efficiency During Procurement”, “Improving Power Measurement Methodologies and Metrics”, “Exploring Opportunities for Tighter Integration of Supercomputing Centers and Electricity Service Providers” and “Control System Challenges and Best Practices". Charlie Manese, an Infrastructure Engineer from Facebook will be a featured Guest Speaker. Charlie will discuss how Facebook designs for efficiency and scale and how Facebook contributes those designs to the Open Compute Project. Networking with colleagues is encouraged during lunch with “round tables” organized around interest areas such as energy efficient benchmarks, liquid cooling technology trends and developing a power API. For more information, see http://eehpcwg.lbl.gov/sc14/workshops.
